The Caterpillar Club is Sydney's most exciting late-night live music room
Six nights of programming, 220 capacity, a $14 schooner — Time Out files an unreserved rave.
There is no better place in town right now to spend a wet Wednesday than The Caterpillar Club. The 220-capacity Surry Hills room programmes six nights a week — Tuesday jazz, Wednesday sessions, weekend headliners — and trades a $14 schooner and a kitchen that runs to midnight.
The booking policy leans toward emerging local jazz, soul and electronic acts, with a Saturday late slot reserved for the kind of DJ set that finishes at 4am. The fit-out is deliberately understated: red velvet curtains, a small raised stage, and lighting that has clearly been engineered by someone who has spent time in the dark.
Time Out's reviewer called it 'the venue that finally proves Sydney's live music recovery is real'.
